Distracted by 3d

I'm working on an indie game at the moment and for the best part of a week I've been really distracted by the thought of coding it in 2d vs 3d.
The temptation is to build it in 3d because of the extra freedom I'll get. But I want the nostalgic, minimal vibes that you can only really get with 2d.
It's taken up too much of my headspace, I was even considering 2.5D at one point. Which sounded really cool until I realised that it would be mean twice the work. I'd have to make the models and draw the pixel art textures for them.
I'm glad I've come to my senses.
Small pixel art games ftw.
