Twitter Noise

09 July, 2020 - 1 min read

I love Twitter, but every now and then I get overwhelmed by the noise to signal ratio and I need a break. Recently I experimented with unfollowing everyone so I would have a clean feed. But Twitter fills the feed with all of your existing tweets...

I'd like a more minimal experience that favours input over consumption.

Ideas

  1. Hide likes and retweets from feed
  2. Hide promoted tweets
  3. Hide Most of the listed menu options
  4. Hide What's happening section
  5. Hide Who to follow section
  6. Tweet template - allows you to always pre fill hashtags

I shouldn't have to try and train the algorithm to clean up my user experience...

My solution would be to have a very minimal mobile client and a web client that formats twitter more like an email app. I would have the feed on the left and the expanded thread with replies on the right that encouraged people to actually reply instead of just liking posts.

I'd like to make this myself... But it would be a huge amount of work.

Please sir, can I have some more?My best work is ahead of me
